about

In a post-pandemic era where employee well-being is in the spotlight, corporations often turn to wellbeing platforms, presenting them as evidence of their concern for their employees. However, what these platforms usually offer is a trivial and gamified approach to a surface-level "care" without meaningful change.
Beneath this facade lies the disregard for addressing systemic workplace stressors and root causes of burnout, while presenting a bright picture to the external market: essentially, wellbeing-washing.

This album depicts MindSculpt, a (not so) fictional wellbeing platform like those that some of you may encounter in your work life.

The sound of this album originates from a retro game shop in Akihabara in the spring of 2023 when, purely driven by inspiration, I decided to buy an unknown PS1 game. That game opened another gateway in my music journey, allowing me to approach new unexplored sonic spaces.

Songs composed using:
- Beat Planet Music on a PlayStation 1 (tracks 2, 6, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15)
- Depth on a PlayStation 1 (all other tracks)
FX and voice samples added in post.

GrokGazer, James Ferraro, John C. Lilly, Modern Health, Opus Corp., Terra Terminal, Windows96

The most special and heartfelt mention must go to the PlayStation, which has been embedded in my creativity since I was a kid and that I wanted to celebrate for its 30th birthday.
